Manuel Cabrera is working on a social housing project in Algeria using the industrial system of “tunnel formwork”. The project is running in conjunction with two companies in the Marina Baja area who are specialists in carrying out such works.
The tunnel formwork system is a building method that allows the casting in one operation of reinforced concrete floor slabs along with load-bearing walls on a daily cycle, making it very efficient.
The Algerian government program for the coming years is to build 3 million such dwellings.
Manuel Cabrera has experience in developing this type of housing when during the boom of the 60s and 70s in the big dormitory towns around Madrid and Barcelona large residential developments were built using this system.
